In 2015, 196 countries signed the international compromise and formally committed to finding solutions in order to mitigate climate change. Trump’s announcement on 1 June to withdraw from the Paris Agreement was a blow to the deal that could weaken its effectiveness considerably. In this snapshot we discuss the possible implications of the withdrawal and we take stock of the current status of implementation of the major economies.
